BELIEVE IN SECOND CHANCES
It really started because I was bored one fall break.
I was home alone with nothing to do and I got the urge
to make something. I started thinking about how all the
purses I see are pretty much the same. I had a few pair
of old jeans lying around and the idea to turn them into
bags popped into my head. The more I played around with
the idea, the more it grew. I thought, what better to
use as a strap than a belt? It worked well, but I quickly
discovered I couldn't use just any belt. The right strap
is like the right boyfriend; each part doesn't have to
be exactly alike, but they have to compliment each other
to make the whole thing work.
After I turned all my own pants and a few of my old skirts
into bags, I started going to second hand stores and using
pants donated by friends. I make my purses one at a time
and I don't use any brand-new pants. Recycled clothes have
a deeper story, and I give them a new chance to shine.
Their history brings character to my bags and is what makes
each one unique. |
